just across the riverbend.

stef & i took a little day trip across the mississippi river to the land of lincoln. we visited a vintage shop, a resale shop, multiple thrift stores, chick-fil-a, & a mall. the glorious part of the trip is that I FOUND A BRIDESMAID DRESS! the last few weeks, i've spent countless  hours surfing the internet, visiting 4 malls (some more than once), & shopping many plazas & today we found "the one." the dress is nothing fancy, but the bride likes it, i like it, it was in the right color scheme, it was only $30 (score!), & most importantly, it is perfect for the #timanie wedding.

a camping we will go.

we went camping over the weekend with a huge group of families from church. i will be the first to admit that camping...well, it's not on my list of favorite things to do. the kids had a blast & everyone had an enjoyable time. it only rained for about 30 minutes the entire weekend. ptl! also, there were no broken bones; that is always a plus.

^^ this is how we all felt on monday. =)

a day in the life.

here's a little 'a day in the life' post from yesterday.

daily bible reading = amos. reminds me so much of a wonderful jon foreman song...

listened to a little voddie.

cleaning a messy dresser! all those earrings are out because they're going to our garage sale.

kim & i went to see man of steel! i was going to keep it simple & take a picture of the ticket stubs, but kim had connections & got us in free. yay! therefore, we did not have ticket stubs so we attempted to get a picture using the blinding iphone flash in a pitch dark movie theater. this was as good as the picture was gonna get. haha.

later, we celebrated stef's birthday with gluten-free brownies.

and let's end the post with a picture of a cute kid. i was kingston's personal jungle gym.
hope everyone is having a great wednesday! we are packing up to go camping in the 90 degree heat all.week. long. pray for us. =)

ewoks are cute.

have i mentioned before that i have some really cute kids in my life? well, i do .there's no doubt about that! here's a video of my super awesome niece showing off her star wars knowledge. i may be slightly influencing her in her love for all things star wars, but someday she will appreciate it. =) it's kind of amazing how much she can remember and she just turned 3!

NOTE- i tried to edit out my own voice because, wow, it was super obnoxious to listen to! haha.

grace is beautiful.

"Like manna that feel for the Israelites, His (God's) grace falls, enough for today and then enough again for tomorrow. This life is beautiful and terrible and simple and difficult and He is using it for all His glory." - Katie Davis

this quote is taken from the book, Kisses from Katie: A Story of Relentless Love and Redemption. I actually read this book a month or two ago. usually i attempt to write down quotes or thoughts from books in a journal, but i guess i didn't have my journal with me when i came to this part. i found this written in the 'notes' section on my phone earlier this week. forgetful me must have forgotten to transfer it to my journal. that's God's perfect timing, right there.
katie's story is beautiful. this quote is beautiful. God's grace is beautiful.

weeping & rejoicing

this past week, our church family lost a beloved brother. he was only 28 years old & died from sudden cardiac arrest. he left behind a wife & 2 small children. this family was in the beginning stages of raising support for training to be missionaries in egypt. even though our feeble minds cannot reasonably comprehend what occurred, we trust a good & sovereign God. this brother had a passion for the Gospel that was evident to all. he just taught at our c-group about 3 weeks ago. we are rejoicing that he is now with his savior.

the unexpectancy of this event is a powerful reminder, once again, of the brevity of life. i have many pictures that i'm just now getting a chance to post. i don't want to take these simple moments for granted. i have much to be thankful for & much to rejoice in (as you shall see soon...).

we were made for a purpose. we were created to serve God. i know that our brother would want others to hear that message of hope proclaimed through his death.

we celebrated the 19 year God has given sweet mayci. happy birthday, mayci!!

her birthday dinner was so colorful, healthy, & delicious!

chicken kabobs - the colors of summer!
followed by a healthy (no white sugar) cheesecake!

earlier in the week, we got ridiculously cheap seats to the cards game. the weather was perfect for a baseball game.

kaldi's special drink right now is a honey almond toddy. this thing is amazing. there is no comparing it to anything available at starbucks.

and for your viewing pleasure -  a picture of stef & i with giant teddy bears for absolute no reason.

on thursday, it was shakespeare in the park. i am absolutely in love with this set.

sometimes you have to read the children's edition before watching the play. ;)
and since we arrived approximately 4 hours early, here are some "just for fun" pictures

let's move on to some cute kid pictures because no blog post is complete without them. =)

we visited the park where the biggest attraction was the sandpit. if you use your imagination, you can pretend we were playing at the beach (just ignore the volleyball nets!).

and to end this extra long post with some happy news - stephanie is engaged!!!!! congrats stef & tim!
