#timanie bridal shower

well, it's a busy season in life right now. i just completed my first full week at school so i'm adjusting back to working 40 hours. the #timanie wedding is in 2 weeks so the festivities just keep rolling! some more friends of mine are getting married in october & they had the idea to make their wedding invitation a video. they asked me to do it. i was thrilled & nervous at the opportunity. i think it turned out cute, but of course, i think they are just so cute as a couple. i can't post it now for privacy sake, but may be eventually.  add in just normal life routines & it's a busy mix. it's been slightly exhausting & super fun at the same time!
here are some party prep pictures for stef's bridal shower.

this was the 'girly' shower so we chose purple decorations as that is stef's favorite color.
we also used donuts as a theme since stef is an avid donut lover. she will be having donuts at the wedding!

6 dozen delicious ex cop donuts!
stef & her bridesmaids. =)

all these ladies showed up wearing purple, most of them not knowing our purple theme.

bachelorette party this week and then wedding time!!!

#timanie wedding shower

over the next 3 weeks, there will probably be an overflow of #timanie posts. i'm just giving a fair warning now. when one of your best friends of 20 years is getting married, i think it's perfectly acceptable to do multiple blog posts. this one is from the co-ed wedding shower that our church gave the couple. and, yes, i always feel the need to hashtage #timanie, even when it's not necessary.
mommaloving: the mastermind behind all decorations.
mom used their wedding colors along with their theme of coffee & old books as inspiration for the decor.

loved how the cans as vases turned out!

the tuckahoe tribe's massive gift to the harrelsons.

our church always has a 'share time' at showers. married couples give Godly advice/wisdom that they have learned.

we didn't plan on matching, but i'm glad we did. =)

aren't they cute?! everything was beautiful & brunch was delicious. timanie's big day will be here before we know it!

let's go on a (st. louis) adventure.

while browsing our local library's website, i stumbled across this st. louis book. i did not know such a book existed! after further research, i discovered that it just came out this year so the book is updated with current AND older attractions! exploring st. louis is just something i enjoy when possible (i think this blog is a testament of that), so i knew checking this out was a must. although i haven't fully read it yet (i'm around #30), i was able to quickly skim the book. many of the things i have done or heard of before, but there were a few ideas that may call for an adventure & that is just what i was hoping for! i love that this is not a "best of" list, but a tool to give you a "rounded St. Louis education, a great start on piecing together the puzzle of this magnificent city, an appreciation for what we have." also what i love? the activities are divided by seasons in the back! just a little perk for this seasonal (FALL!) lover.

who knows? some of the ideas in the book may be documented on this here blog in the upcoming months. let's hope so because autumn is right around the corner (!) and that is most definitely the best time to explore & begin adventures. well, fall is just THE BEST in general.

shadows.

Psalm 17:8 ~ "Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings"

Psalm 36:7 ~ "How precious is your steadfast love, O God! The children of mankind take refuge in the shadow of your wings."

Psalm 57:1 ~ "Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me, for in you my soul takes refuge; in the shadow of your wings I will take refuge, till the storms of destruction pass by."

Psalm 63:7 ~ "for you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I will sing for joy"

Psalm 91:1 ~ "He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty."

notice a theme? currently reading through the psalms & sometimes certain things just stand out to you for no apparent reason. well, this phrase "shadow of your wings" jumped out to me.  these words are referring to the protective care a parent bird has for its young.  what does it mean to be hidden under the shadow of the Lord's wings? it means we are safe. it means we are protected. it means we are secure. it means HE is our refuge. it means we take comfort in HIS sovereignty. thank you, Lord!

donuts. donuts. donuts.

there is a reason why the title of this blog post has donuts written three times. it's almost too embarrassing to say, but yes, we had donuts at THREE separate places on the same day. gasp! i should clarify that this is not the norm and we do eat relatively healthy around here, but that's not really as fun to blog about. we had no intention of eating at these donut places today, but sometimes you have to live a little & go where the donuts lead. whatever that means....
here we are smiling nonchalantly, innocently garage sailing, having no idea what the day had in store for us.

we stopped at ex cop donut shop. i'm going to take a minute & BRAG on this place. i have been there a handful of times & have never been disappointed. even stef (the donut enthusiast) majorly approves. the owners are husband/wife & both are former cops. they are super nice & friendly people.

while there today, the owner informed us that they will be premiering their own reality tv show on TLC august 28th. how exciting! he also showed us their submission video. i hope this helps promote their business because they sure deserve it.

i told everyone on facebook to go visit especially before the shop becomes popular & they raise their prices. haha! =)

and here's my last photo to convince you to go to ex cop. i should mention that all 7 of us split this one donut. maybe that will help you think we're not extreme fatties. =)

so, we also happened to be in an area that has another bakery some of us have been wanting to try. mom has a mission, a higher calling in life, to determine who makes the best chocolate long john. she bought one here & then went down the road & purchased one at QuikTrip, which is her all time favorite. She did an official side by side taste test AND..... QT is still number #1.
"nothing compares to QT." ~ mommaloving
here we are ~ tummies full after splitting donuts. *notice the emphasis on splitting. haha. that's just what large families do. =) anyway, this garage sale day turned into an unexpected girls' day out. we were so happy jaclyne was able to join us!

a long time ago...

i'm so excited for this blog post! cue the imperial march because it's time for a recap of STAR WARS NIGHT AT BUSCH STADIUM!!!

but before i get ahead of myself, let's start at the beginning for that's a very good place to start.
stef & i grabbed some gus' to take to the game. it is a st. louis tradition.

but first, coffee.

this is a postcard that i found at my grammy's. i believe it's from the 1970s. i've been wanting to take this picture for awhile so i'm thankful i was able to get it BUT...

a man came up & wanted to take our picture. nice gesture, but it started spiraling downhill & then he wanted us to pay him for taking the picture. we decided it best to leave right then. so i only got that one shot above. oh well, may be i'll get another opportunity to attempt that photo a different day.

well, there were so many memorable stories that i could write about from this night. just a lot of funny circumstances that probably aren't worth sharing. that's what happens at star wars night.

horrible lighting + giving camera to stranger=extremely blurry shots still worth sharing.  =)

this guy was not part of the legion that dressed up, but he was the only han solo i could find!

this was the first time busch stadium had a star wars night & it was quite a fun night circling the entire ballpark at least 7 times trying to find boba fett & darth vader. we were waiting in line to get a picture with boba & they took a break right after the people in front of us. yup, they stopped when we were next. haha! stef was determined though & photobombed someone else's picture so her dream would come true. also, i can officially add "stalking darth vader" to my resume, although we never saw him long enough to get a picture.
